Course Overview
Dealing with difficult people within the workplace can be extremely challenging. It can often result in increased stress, reduced productivity and strained relationships. Left unmanaged, these behaviours can have a real impact on employees, teams and organisations.
This workshop looks at how to manage difficult behaviour when interacting with colleagues and direct reports. Participants will learn to improve interpersonal skills, master effective communication techniques and build the confidence to have difficult conversations.
What this workshop covers
During this workshop, participants will learn:
- about difficult behaviour and the psychology that fuels it
- the most common types of difficult people and how to defuse their behaviour
- how to respond rather than react using self-regulation techniques
- common triggers that inflame a heated situation and how to avoid them
- how to promote calm and rational thinking, instead of adding fuel to the fire
- a highly effective and proven communication framework for dealing with difficult people
- how to manage situations involving toxic or threatening behaviour
- what further support and resources are available (EAP, HR).
Duration:
3 hours, half day or a full day.
